Best way to describe this is FLAT!
The swim will be in the river, about 10′ deep water. The course will be lined with life guards.
The run course is simply from the Bavarian belle exit to the finish line for the youngsters. The teens will make a loop around the venue on the grass before coming into the finish line.
This will simply be along the walkway leading to the Bavarian Belle. just place the kids shoes anywhere along this walkway down to the Bavarian belle. they will make the change here before heading out on the run.
Swim: 100m or 200m
This will be a Time Trial start. This will ensure everyone has an enjoyable, stress-free swim in order to work on your open water swim technique properly.
All the kids should be at the Bavarian Belle by no later than 8:30. We will line the youngsters up first on the boat doing the 100m swim. The teens will be lined up behind them.
Each kid will jump off the belle into the river and swim underneath the covered bridge providing a great vantage point for spectators. They will then exit via a engineered swim platform behind the Bavarian Belle.
The swim will be a straight out and back keeping buoys on your left.
Swim Safety Protocol
If you need assistance raise your hand a guard will come to you. If you insist on being extracted the guard will signal to the waverunner for retraction and retrieval and you will be taken to shore where you will be checked out by the EMT on site before you are released. You may hang on to the lifeguard board as long as you wish, but you may not proceed forward.
Run: 800m or 1 mi.
The kids will simply follow the walkway up from the Bavarian Belle, the following the coned chute out and then cones, chalk and signs through the Riverplace shops over to the venue across the parking lot.
The youngsters will head around and through the triathlon transition area. The teens will continue straight out on the cross country course before making their way back to the finish line.
Aid stations will be at the swim exit.
Course markings will be chalk, cones and signs.
