Yes, the season from September to November has a unique set of wind-down triathlon events to take your pick from:

  1. Santa Cruz Triathlon : 23rd September, 2018

Why not end the season for a good cause? Santa Cruz is a non-profit triathlon which has donated more than $1.5 million to the county’s high school athletic programs and other programs so far. The triathlon race consists of a 1.5k ocean swim around the wharf (temperatures in the mid-50s so you’ll need a wetsuit – check out some awesome ones here). Its 40k bike ride is along the West Cliff Dive and coastal highway to the town of Davenport. The final 10k run is along the ocean. Find out more and register for the event.

  1. IRONMAN 70.3, Atlantic City 2018 : 23rd September, 2018

Historic Atlantic City has everything; sea, sun and sand, to make the triathletes tick faster. In fact, the race begins with a 1.2 swim in the scenic back bays of the city, followed by a bike course on Atlantic City Expressway which remains closed to vehicular traffic! The race ends with a 13.1 mile run with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean from the very famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. The race even offers qualifying slots to the 2019 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France. Need we give you any other reason to participate? Register here.

  1. 2018 Catalina Triathlon, Duathlon and 5K,CA : 3rd November, 2018

This is a unique event because it features a sprint triathlon, duathlon and a 5k run/walk. The sprint triathlon starts luxuriously at 9am and includes a ½ mile swim, 17k bike-ride and 5k run. The duathlon is a 5k run followed by a 5k bike and finishing with a 17k run. Finally, there’s a 5k run/walk that is ideal for the not-so-enthusiastic. It’s a great opportunity to spend some fun, healthy exercise time with family and friends who also want to do something. Register now.

  1. The 2018 Trick or Tri, CA : 27th October, 2018

The Trick or Tri is designed to be the fastest course in California. Triathletes circumnavigate Boney Island, which is in a 70 acre spring-fed and chlorinated lake. Temperatures are about 65-70 degrees making it wetsuit legal. The bike course is completely closed to vehicles and 80 % of it is on pristine asphalt. Finally, the run is around the Sante Fe Dam Lake with a paved trail that ridges the south side of the lake.

  1. Naptown Triathlon, Half and Intermediate, IN : October 7th, 2018

This is great for all those beginner triathletes who still have a lot of steam left as the season winds down. The short, fast race begins with a beautiful swim at Eagle Creek Beach followed by a 14 mile bike loop. The run is also equally scenic. The event ends with a post-race meal from Barbecue and Bourbon.

  1. Miami Man Half Iron, FL : November 11th, 2018

This is a half-iron distance tri in Miami which starts with a two-lap swim in a crystal clear lake followed by a bike ride that passes through farmland. The best part is the run course which takes athletes through the Miami Zoo where they get to run past animals (cheering them on, of course).

  1. Ironman Florida, Panama City Beach, FL : 3rd November, 2018

Nothing like a late season race to train to your heart’s content. If there’s only one race you’d like to run late this season, it’s probably this one! The location is known for its pristine beaches and moderate fall temperatures. The swim is in the Gulf of Mexico which has waters in the mid-70s so athletes can use their wetsuits. This is followed by a fast, flat, one-loop bicycle course and two-loop run course. The run also takes participants through St. Andrew’s State Park, a favorite among participants for its shaded areas and wildlife. Go on, register and have a little fun at this late season triathlon.

If you have had a great season, here’s your chance to go out there and add a little icing on the cake. If you are still learning the ropes, these triathlons are slightly more lighthearted ways to have some fun and end the season on a good note.
